What is the limit for Drink Driving in QLD?
What is the limit for Drink Driving in QLD?
Drink DrivingIn Queensland, the legal Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) limit depends entirely on the class of licence you hold and the type of vehicle you are driving.
There are strictly three BAC limits:
- Recreational/Open Licence (0.05 BAC): If you hold an open car or motorcycle licence, your BAC must be below 0.05.
- Zero Limit (0.00 BAC): You must have absolutely no alcohol in your system if you are a Learner, P1, or P2 provisional driver, OR if you are driving a commercial vehicle (such as a taxi, rideshare, bus, or heavy truck).
- High Range/UIL (0.15 BAC): If your BAC is 0.15 or above, you are charged with Driving Under the Influence (UIL), which carries the most severe penalties including minimum 6-month disqualifications and mandatory interlocks.
It is impossible to accurately guess your BAC based on how you feel. If you are charged with a PCA offence, contact our traffic lawyers immediately .
